Disadvantages faced today

The impacts of racism and segregation are still felt by minority communities. Compared white Americans, ethnic minorities are less likely to graduate, more likely to drop out, and less likely to complete college degrees. Ethnic minorities are also less likely to peruse Bachelor’s degrees in the fine arts, performing arts, and humanities. White college students have more than 60% of all fine arts degrees, whereas every non-white ethnic group combined make up less than half of those degrees. Students today are still facing the same struggles with inequality that their families have been facing for generations. Can art and music programs really help bridge that gap?
